This week let’s have some fun with Polka Dots.

You should never wear a red shirt with black polka dots because your friends will call you a lady bug. Stefanie, age 8

Healing

This week’s creative prompt is Healing. We have all felt pain at certain times in our lives — sometimes physical, sometimes emotional. Create art that celebrates your own personal stories of healing. Be inspired by medicine, nature, faith, or whatever may have helped you during your journey to healing.

Update

Sorry gang, there will be no new updates for the weeks of June 26 and July 3. My apologies to all!

Bringing Child’s Art to Life

This week, let us be inspired by South Korean photographer Yeondoo Jung’s series Wonderland, a collection of amazing photographs in which he brilliantly brings children’s crayon drawings to life. Read more about the process of his series here.

Be inspired by the profound imaginations that belong to such little beings!

Here are a few options and ideas on how to have fun with this concept:

1. Using your camera and a few clever props, recreate a child’s drawing á la Yeondoo Jung.

2. Choose a child’s drawing to bring to life in the medium and style of your choice (sculpture, paints, collage, et cetera).

3. Or reverse the concept and choose a photograph to recreate in the medium of your choice.
