Maria Sharapova Inspiration for the Everyday Comeback Story

Comeback stories seem to be the ones that pull at the heartstrings. They reaffirm that anything is possible and that with some hard work and determination all odds can be overcome.

Maria Sharapova is one of the most well known women’s tennis players. She is a fierce competitor and worked her way to the No. 1 ranking in 2008. In 2009 she encountered injuries in her right elbow and right shoulder which put her out of play. Many did not think that she would ever be able to play as well as she once did or compete at the same level.
Well, she determined to prove everyone wrong and her streak this year is beginning to prove that. She is one of the top seeds coming into the French Open and the odds are looking good. Maria most recently won the Rome Masters and is coming in with a No. 7 seed.
Maria will face tough competition in the upcoming tournament in Paris but she has been working extremely hard to show that she is still a champion. She has never been able to win the French Open which makes this story all the more exciting. Sharapova was very close to winning the French Open in previous years but she just couldn’t seem to get past the Williams sisters.
This year the Willams’ are not competing in the tournament due to injuries. Hopefully, this will be Maria Sharapova’s year. If she can clinch this victory, then she will be the comeback story of the year and the best part is that she will have done it with a tournament she has never been able to win.
Good luck Maria, show everyone that comebacks are not only for the movies!

Inspiring story of young girl who lost all her hair at 19

I loved this story of a courageous young girl who lost all of her hair at only 19.  The video tells the story of her hair loss and the joy of seeing her hair grow back only to lose it again.  What I found so brave and remarkable was her decision not to wear a wig again when her hair fell out for the second time.  Women are often defined by the way they look and so many women place enormous amounts of self worth on the way their hair looks.  Men do not have bad hair days, only women.  Men do not get out of bed and think they are worthless because their hair doesn’t look good.  Women put all this pressure on themselves and some women shave their heads to free their spirit from this unhealthy obsession with hair.
