Create Against the Clock
This week, your challenge is to Create Against the Clock. Get out your supplies, set a timer and do your creative thing for 10 minutes. Scan or snap a photo of your work. Then, with the same supplies, set the timer for 1 hour and let the creative juju flow again. Snap another photo and share both with us. How do the two compare? Is there a contrast — unfinished and raw versus complete and finished? (Depending on your particular craft, you may wish to adjust the timer; just be true to yourself and pick a very short time followed by a longer period of time.)
O, great creator of being, grant us one more hour to perform our art and perfect our lives. ![]()
Even though it may only take one hour to produce a great work of art, there are years of nurtured vision and feeling in every stroke. ![]()

Get creative by interpreting this topic through art, words, photography, however you feel moved to express yourself. Post it on your blog, then leave your link* in the comments section of this post so we can go check it out.
* To ensure it is easy for us to find your work, please provide a link to a static page that will always show your submission, and not your website’s main page. Help! What’s a static page?
People ask me how long it took to make a work. I reply by giving them my age. ![]()
When I work, I work very fast, but preparing to work can take any length of time. ![]()
The holy grail is to spend less time making the picture than it takes people to look at it. ![]()

This is a work that I think applies more to the opposites theme, but was also completed quite quickly after a long pause in its development. It is called the ‘angel of apollo’ -

took this photo a while back at a friend’s wedding, converted it into black and white through photoshop (which took less than 5 minutes): http://blog.chocolatenostalgia.com/?p=21
and then I painted it using acrylics a few days ago (which took a little over an hour):

What craziness! I honestly thought I could make headway toward a hand-drawn kaleidoscope in 10 minutes and finish one in an hour. Madness!
