Welcome to Inspire Me Thursday...   A weekly dose of inspiration for
mixed media artists and creative types to nurture their muses and CREATE!

Create Against the Clock

Create Against the ClockThis week, your challenge is to Create Against the Clock. Get out your supplies, set a timer and do your creative thing for 10 minutes. Scan or snap a photo of your work. Then, with the same supplies, set the timer for 1 hour and let the creative juju flow again. Snap another photo and share both with us. How do the two compare? Is there a contrast — unfinished and raw versus complete and finished? (Depending on your particular craft, you may wish to adjust the timer; just be true to yourself and pick a very short time followed by a longer period of time.)

O, great creator of being, grant us one more hour to perform our art and perfect our lives. Jim Morrison

Even though it may only take one hour to produce a great work of art, there are years of nurtured vision and feeling in every stroke. Susan Easton Burns

People ask me how long it took to make a work. I reply by giving them my age. Ted Godwin

When I work, I work very fast, but preparing to work can take any length of time. Cy Twombly

The holy grail is to spend less time making the picture than it takes people to look at it. Banksy

This is a work that I think applies more to the opposites theme, but was also completed quite quickly after a long pause in its development. It is called the ‘angel of apollo’ -

What craziness! I honestly thought I could make headway toward a hand-drawn kaleidoscope in 10 minutes and finish one in an hour. Madness!
