Bringing Child’s Art to Life
This week, let us be inspired by South Korean photographer Yeondoo Jung’s series Wonderland, a collection of amazing photographs in which he brilliantly brings children’s crayon drawings to life. Read more about the process of his series here.

I Want To Be a Singer, 2004, Yeondoo Jung
Be inspired by the profound imaginations that belong to such little beings!
Here are a few options and ideas on how to have fun with this concept:
1. Using your camera and a few clever props, recreate a child’s drawing á la Yeondoo Jung.
2. Choose a child’s drawing to bring to life in the medium and style of your choice (sculpture, paints, collage, et cetera).
3. Or reverse the concept and choose a photograph to recreate in the medium of your choice.

I thought this was a very hard challenge. It takes for a lot of stretching of the mind and creativity muscles. I was lucky because I was already working on something along these lines.
Hope you like it, or at least get some ideas.

Emma Bean is my kindred art spirit. Although she’s now 26, we’ve been making art together since she was tiny. Here’s our entry:

I’m not sure if this qualifies..but thought I’d throw it out there anyway. This image is taken from a very small child’s point of view. Imagine a pint-sized world:

This was a wonderful idea and I LOVE Yeondoo Jung’s photos! I just didn’t have anything handy to follow this prompt the way I wanted to.
Then, I started thinking about how when I was little, I was crazy about My Little Ponies. So, I painted one with watercolors:

I am so excited to have seen this thru Leah’s site. I have run out of time ( I am going away for the weekend– and my kids would not play this game today! :) ), but I really want to participate. Would it be ok if I posted something for both this and the new topic next week, or will this one be closed? I so enjoyed looking at your submissions. I just discovered the wonderland series a month or so ago and was so wowed by it– it really spoke to what I love about art. See you soon!

children are such sources of inspiration. they teach us to be free with our thoughts while making art, and to enjoy the process. this time i decided to be the observer and learner, instead of being the doer and the teacher.
