Doors
This week, let us be inspired by Doors, those intriguing passageways from here to there. Doors can symbolize many things: freedom, escape, change, secrecy, hearth. Perhaps you could share with us a special door in your life that is a work of art in itself, or choose to create a piece of art that illustrates what concepts resonate with you when thinking about doors or doorways. Looking forward to seeing your a-door-able art! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

Here is my door; a photoshopped one. I think I have an altered book with a door in it but for some reason can’t find it right now and I am busy spring cleaning. Just watch; as soon as I post this one I will find the other.

This painting was inspired by a line in an old song– “Where do you go to dream?” As I thought about it, I decided that home is a great place to feel safe and to dream. I used an old map for the door because a lot of my dreams revolve around travelling to far off places.

Hello! I loved this theme. Here’s my try :

A couple of gargoyles guard my door. Don’t ask me why because I cannot say to whence it leads…

Wow, this is such an interesting inspiration. I was not sure where to even begin. I chose two doors to share, the first is my art piece and then there is my favorite photo at the end of my post. I am really enjoying looking at everyone’s take on this topic. Karen

From my journal:
http://www.etstudio.net/door.html
I love this rich engraving of a Renaissance door from Aix-en-Provence, France, and I also like to mess around with textures and colors to contrast with the rigid ancient feeling of the very proper door and how the words also add something unknown and mysterious - doors always project a sense of adventure and the unknown for me, a path waiting to be discovered.

here’s my post for “Doors”

A quick digital sketch of Jim Morrison, lead singer of “The Doors”.

I have so many photographs of doors, but here’s my favorite. It’s a doorway that I spied in Little Five Points one afternoon in March. I’ll bet that an artist placed the shoes there. You can’t see it but, inside the shoes, there was a Post It that said “Free Shoes.”

Here are my doors. I sketched several ideas, but when I did the background it just spoke to me.

I am new to the blogging world. I found out about inspiremethursday through the magazine Artful Blogging. This is my first entry. I hope you like.

Plus one about what is supposedly the most beautiful door in the world (in a sense), as well as the two most beautiful words in the English language.
