Welcome to Inspire Me Thursday...   A weekly dose of inspiration for
mixed media artists and creative types to nurture their muses and CREATE!

Inkblot

This week our creative prompt is Inkblots, specifically those used in psychological evaluation tests such as the common, yet controversial, Rorschach Inkblot Test.

Choose your paper, add some paint or ink in the center, then fold in half to create your own inkblot. Take a photo or a scan if you want to do a before and after comparison. Then sketch, draw, collage or paint on the inkblot to illustrate your interpretation of your inkblot.

– or –

Choose one of the inkblots from the Rorschach Inkblot Test (this site is in Spanish, but has nice full color versions of the inkblot images). Print it out, then sketch, draw, collage or paint on the inkblot to illustrate your interpretation of the inkblot.

This prompt was sooo much fun! I didn’t make my own inkblot, I used #4 of the ones provided on the link. Thanks for a great inspiration!

I’d like to give it another try this week, but just in case I cannot, here is an image I did following this ‘method’ (in this specific case, using the remaining acrylics in my palette before they dried). It was fun and I even liked the result! :)

This was fun! I actually did two different inkblots and then used them as mono-prints onto a journal page. Of course, by the time I finished the page, the blots were kinda obliterated… but that’s the artistic process, right?

    Have a great week!

What a coincidence! I have been working on a whole series called “The Sinister Change”, and all of them start out with inkblots! Check them out and let me know what you think.
