We have the illusion that working for ourselves means having lots of free time. 
Painting comes to reality through illusion. An illusion that allows us to make a leap of faith; to believe. To believe in a blue that can be the wing of a bug or a thought. It makes our invisible visible.
Better a dish of illusion and a hearty appetite for life, than a feast of reality and indigestion therewith.

I just love the Squeak Carnwath quote! Art is always an interpretation of reality, whether you are representing a still life, a portrait, an emotion, you are still asking the viewer to take that leap of faith into your world.
