How to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

51 Ways to Expand Your Comfort Zone :: “If you want more of anything in your life, the place to start is with your comfort zone. By expanding your comfort zone you will get more of what you want. It’s that simple.” Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone by Aurora Mae :: “Identifying your fears, personal limits, and boundaries is the first step towards conquering them. Take a piece of paper and write down everything you have been afraid of doing in your life, everything you have envied other people for doing, and everything you fear or everything that limits you from having the life you want. List the physical things you fear, but more importantly, list the mental and emotional. Be honest.”

It is difficult to even “KNOW” your fears, it seems to me. I’m not even sure what keeps me in check. I think sometimes it is just others people’s reaction that stops me in my tracks. An example of the programing that has occured inside our heads since we have been very small. We are taught to be acceptable to others. As women, we are taught the dutiful behaviors of a wife and mother. These characteristics are so ingrained in us, that I feel we have a hard time even separating ourselves from these beliefs. (And, of course, beliefs lead to behaviors) I’m not exactly sure how we know how much of what we do is instinctive, and how much of what we think is “learned”.

For me the answer to this is simple. Rejection. Ugh. It’s the single word that has kept me from doing SO much… at least up until this point.

Since the birth of my daughter 6 months ago, I feel a responsibility to try harder at the things that I want most in life. Lead by example, right? I WILL conquer my fear and just enjoy the process of creating for the sake of purely creating. I’ve created a website, I am writing a blog and I am putting my art out for ANYONE to enjoy.

Was very inspired by this quote and ended up doing a drawing and article about where my process has been taking me with this idea:
