Stacia, please tell us about yourself.
I’m a freelance illustrator and graphic designer working from home. I love to blog, create, and surround myself with projects! I have a background in apparel design, which has indirectly played a role in my fascination with paper and textures.
What do you create?
I work mostly in paper and digital collage creating whimsical illustrations.
What are your favorite techniques and/or supplies?
My favorite supplies are gel medium, paper, my digital camera, and my computer!

Tell us about your creative process.
After I’ve been inspired and have an image in mind, I select papers from my stash or create my own unique textures. I cut them into shapes and scan them. Once digital, I put them together like a puzzle using Photoshop and add other digital textures and effects to give my images a more dimensional look.
In what ways do you live artfully?
I use my digital camera to capture textures while out in my garden or traveling, I participate in art blog challenges, I listen to music for inspiration, I keep a journal, I explore different mediums, and I make my own instead of buying!

Do you sell your art? If so, where is it available for purchase?
I do sell prints directly. The information on purchasing is on my website. Just recently I sold 25 images from my art installation at the Sequoia Hospital and donated 3 images to medical charities affiliated with the hospital.

What is your personal motto or mantra?
“Why buy it when I can make it?”
What is your favorite topic that you’ve participated in at Inspire Me Thursday?
Functional Art.

Anything else you would like to share with us?
Some days I have lots of ideas, and some days I don’t. Whenever I have an idea I draw a quick sketch in my journal…then when I feel uninspired, I shop for an image in my journal to get the ball rolling! Here’s a list I created some time ago to help get the creative juices flowing: Renewing Creative Energy
