Our featured artist this week is Iris von Brandstatter, a creative nomad
whose bold sense of adventure has taken her all over the globe!
Name: Iris von Brandstatter

Iris, Please tell us about yourself.
Friends described me as “mildly eccentric” & forever creating something.
The “mildly eccentric” might have to do with my continental roots and upbringing in a very artistic environment.
I come from the heart of Europe, where people are friendly, mountains are high, the air is clean and where things are just awfully efficient (and NO, it’s NOT Germany) hihi ;)
I have ticked off a lot on my “dreams” list over the past 15 years and there is still much I want to do… Next adventure is just around the corner, 4 weeks in Nepal trying to make it to the EBC.
Hobbies: most arty things, traveling, music, healthy living
How would you describe your art?
My art can not be put in ANY pidgin-holes ;)…. I work with all possible medias and materials… from photography, online art to textiles, large canvasses, acrylics, jewelery, fashion and accessories, interior decoration, product design, recycle art, mixed media, pottery ohhhh the list is endless :)
Who are your favorite artists?
Franz Marc, Erte, Kandinsky, Chihuli.
Tell us about your creative process.
I see, smell or take in something visually and an idea starts to form and then I get the materials I feel do it justice and just create :),.since I was a kid this process was effortlessly …
In what ways do you live artfully?
I create my environment artistically (colors are very important)… I wear a lot of my own creations and I help others (in workshops) to find their own creativity… my next teaching course will be in Nepal for a group of monks… can’t wait to get there.
What is your personal motto or mantra?
“Walk your talk”
Anything else you would like to share about yourself?
Thank you for giving people the space to put themselves out there and find inspiration or give it. A great platform!
