FEATURED ARTIST: Gaby Braun

This week the spotlight is on Gaby Braun, a fiber and mixed media artist from Brazil.
Name: Gaby Braun
Blog: gaby cajubrasil
Gaby, please tell us about yourself.
Brazil is my country and I live there with my husband. I’m a german teacher, but not full time and I try to be an artist.
I paint on oil and watercolor, but now I’m making only collages, with and without stamps. And I refound my way to the assemblages. I love cats, but I don’t have one at time.
How would you describe your art?
For a while I have done contemporary art, but it’s not my job. Today I put on paper my feelings, without to much thinks about it. As I said, I make collages and now assemblages. Today I’m making and photographic essay about São Paulo, the biggest city in Brazil.
Who are your favorite artists?
Farnese de Andrade, that is a Brazilian artist, he was an assemblage artist. I love too Tomie Otake, a Brazilian artist too. She has a very beautiful abstract work. Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and others from Pop Art I like also.
Tell us about your creative process.
Normally I’m be inspiring about a picture, a photo, or also something I see on the street or around me. The visual inspires me, not a music or a book.
What is your personal motto or mantra?
My motto is to learn from everything what happens in our life. Every single thing is a life lesson.
Anything else you would like to share about yourself?
Thats it. I try to live my life the best way I can.
Please be sure to visit Gaby’s blog at gaby cajubrasil for an abundance of collage, cool techniques and lots of inspiration!
