Books are my biggest indulgence. Second hand books of all sorts, really obscure novels, books about science, books about art and of course lots and lots of poetry…..

    And endless cups of tea…….

  • sherrie says:

i have my music. all sorts. the folk stuff i grew up on the silly stuff i love to sing and the love songs that can still make me laugh or cry.

and the freedom to express my self out loud. VERY LOUDLY…….

  • Katie says:

I have amassed nothing short of a FORTUNE in stuff that I see potential in for a future art project. The biggest indulgence within the stash is a small box of clock hands that are fabulous and I so in love with them that I paid $50 on eBay for them (the “SECRET” part…my husband would KILL me if he knew I spent fifty bucks on watch hands)! The problem is that I am so worried about what to use them for (because it better be something good!) that I have yet to use them. It’s been three years.

Ummmmm…. can you keep a secret???
    ; )

I have a lime green ipod full of Toby Keith… Not kinda full, not sorta full, not a little bit full… TOTALLY, COMPLETELY, ABSOLUTELY full to the tip top of Toby Keith *blush* (He is SUCH a big cowboy… I can’t help it!!!!)

Also a tub of red licorice… hidden from the kids I am constantly reminding to make healthy food choices…. go figure!

  • Carol says:

I have papers, and stickers, and books, diarys and journals, two tubs of glues, paints, markers, pens, pencils, brushes, piles of old magazines, music books, prints, embelishments. I love all this stuff and find it so much fun to play with it. The secret is the “voyage into art” that I take when I go there. I am beyond my regular life and all my responsibiities dissappear when I am there. A secret other life!!

I have old family letters hided in my studio. There are there in a box. I never touch it and never read it, but I know it are there and in anyway it stamps my work.

  • Wendy Boutsianis says:

I indulged in a $124 box of buttons once…and have yet to use them. I’ve shelled out hords of cash for boxes of “junque” on eBay too. My family still makes fun and instructs people not to give me cash as a gift because I’ll just spend it on something dumb…like buttons!
I have also amassed so many resources of all kinds that I require 30% of my appartment, two friend’s basements, part of a friend’s garage and a large heated storage unit to store it all. Oh, and I am still always buying more…
I think it is only this week that I have begun to come to terms with the fact that I may actually have a problem.
    What do you think?

  • Dan says:

A big roll of wax paper.

I stopped using a traditional painting palette a long time ago. Now when I run out of room to mix my paint, I just rip off another sheet and lay it down on top of the pile.

  • shannonjyl says:

i like to hide tiny dime bags of crank randomly around the room …muck like my friend the squirrle..

  • Anna says:

In my studio I have two big tubs of papers, a tub of paints, a tub of fabric and shelves of old art journals. I also have a lifelong collection of beads. I have collected beads for as long as I can remember.

I would like to get some old National Geographic magazines for inspiration.

My whole studio is my secret–I keep the door closed, and my husband is not allowed in there. Recently, I started hiding an antique stamp set in there..it’s in a huge box of vintage paper…at the very bottom. It was ONLY $81…but he would not understand. It is a gorgeous set with all the caps, and all the small letters, and symbols, and the original stamp pad in a tin–all in a beautiful OLD wooden box…he knows that I have been eyeing it..he just doesn’t know that I PURCHASED it…
